Outreach Days

The Outreach Directorship holds three Outreach Days per school year. On these days, high school students come to the U of M to learn about our Faculty and the engineering profession. Outreach Days are all day events and start with a presentation about engineering courses, departments, technical societies and career opportunities. Students are given a tour of various engineering labs throughout the engineering building. While in the labs, professors or lab technicians explain to the high school students what research that is done in the labs and expand on their personal fields of study. During the free pizza lunch, there is a presentation by the Dean of Engineering about life as a professional engineer. After lunch, students partake in a design challenge meant to demonstrate the challenges engineers face daily. Students are provided limited supplies and a time limit to implement the best design solution to the given problem.

Outreach Days are free to all attendees, however due to a limited amount of space Outreach does have to put a cap on the number of students. If you are a high school student interested in attending an Outreach day, please contact the Outreach Directorship through your high school teacher or use the email below.
