Senior Stick (Megan Lusty)
The Senior Stick is the spokesperson and representative of all Engineering students. The Stick maintains communication with the Dean and Associate Deans on all topics concerning UMES members. The Senior Stick also works actively with UMSU and the University's other senior sticks to support the needs of both Engineering students and all University students.
Vice Stick Internal (VSI) (Mark Hearson)
The Vice Stick Internal (VSI) ensures that the Faculty related issues are addressed in a timely manner by working with for the Dean's Office and the students to bring a resolution. The VSI is also responsible for maintaining student space in the Engineering building.
Vice Stick External (VSE) (Kaitlin Fritz)
The Vice Stick External (VSE) is your contact person with APEGM and other engineering student societies across Canada. The VSE is responsible for sending students to Engineering conferences, which are a great way to meet fellow engineering students from all over the country. The VSE also organizes the University of Manitoba Engineering Competition (UMEC), which is an event featuring various competition categories testing your design and communication skills.

Vice Stick Academic (VSA) (Kathryn Marcynuk)
The Vice Stick Academic (VSA) is the academic advocate for Engineering students. The VSA is responsible for communicating with the Faculty and its departments regarding academic issues, coordinating student representation on academic committees, organizing academic events like Bear Pit sessions, and assisting individual students with their academic problems.
If you are having difficulty dealing with a professor, need help in launching an appeal, or have questions or concerns about course content or academic rules and regulations, please contact the VSA.
Vice Stick Communication (VSC) (Jared Marr)
The Vice Stick Communications (VSC) is responsible for strengthening for communications between UMES Council and Engineering students. The VSC is also one of two UMSU Representatives that serve as a voice for Engineering students on the University of Manitoba Students' Union Council.
Vice Stick Finance (VSF) (Michael Guberman)
The Vice Stick Finance (VSF) organizes and oversees the spending of money by UMES Council. Beginning with the budgeting process and continuing throughout the year, the VSF ensures that every penny is accounted for and that UMES' activities are carried out in a financially responsible manner. The VSF is also involved in the planning process that takes place before the year begins, to ensure that all spending will be in the best interests of Engineering students.
Vice Stick Social (VSS) (Trevor Gascoyne)
The Vice Stick Socials (VSS) works with the directorships that help fill your social calender with fun sporting events and parties. The VSS is also the second of two UMSU Representatives that serve as a voice for Engineering students on the University of Manitoba Students' Union Council.
Secretary (Kaitlynn Meadows)
The Secretary helps to ensure that the administrative activities of UMES Council proceed smoothly. The Secretary is primarily responsible for taking accurate minutes, the official record of meeting discussions and actions, at all UMES Council meetings. The Secretary also assists other UMES Council members in many other ways, helping them to serve Engineering students more efficiently.
Electronic Communications (Troy Denton)
The Electronic Communications (EC) Directorship is responsible for managing the UMES website (www.umes.mb.ca) and the Council's other electronic resources.
The primary goal of EC for this coming year is to maintain the UMES website into a one-stop information resource for all Engineering students. The website will be a great source of UMES news and information about UMES' events and services, and will also feature news and information about the Faculty, academics, and the Engineering student groups.
Graduation (Nikou Jalayeri & Romain Coudier)
The Graduation Directorship is responsible for planning the Engineering Year End Formal and Iron Ring ceremony. They also organize the Iron Ring fittings and information sessions. Graduation's main event, the Year End Formal, is the last social event of the year for all Engineering students, and a chance to say farewell to the graduates.

Merchandise (Victor Hashemian, Madeleine Cleveland & John Grogan)
The Merchandise Directorship is responsible for the creation, marketing and sale of UMES merchandise. This includes everything from the traditional student leather and nylon jackets to hoodies, coffee mugs, touques, and patches. The Merchandise Directorship is also in charge of the rental of student lockers within the Engineering Buildings.
This year The Window, a sales "desk" located in the atrium (near the UMES offices and lounge), will continue to be the main location for merchandise and event ticket sales, as well as locker rentals and other convenience items.
Outreach (Rebecca Joseph & Samantha Olson)
The goals of the Outreach Directorship are to support the recruitment of new students for the Faculty and to raise the profile of Engineering within the community. In support of these goals, Outreach organizes information days called Outreach Days where high school students are invited to come to the U of M to get a glimpse of life as an Engineering student and an introduction to the Engineering profession. This year, Outreach is planning to promote Engineering within Manitoba high schools though mailings
Outreach information days are supported by a group of volunteer "buddy leaders" that guide groups of high school students. If you are interested in getting involved as an Outreach Buddy Leader, please contact one of the Outreach directors.
Professional Relations (PR) (Steve Bohrn, Andrew Condon, Mark Reimer & Jomar Manzano)
The Professional Relations (PR) Directorship is responsible for communicating with professional engineers, engineering firms, and the business community on behalf of Engineering students. While dealing with new and established contacts, PR works to find sponsorship for UMES events and to improve the employment potential for Engineering students. In pursuit of these goals, the PR directors organize the ASE Career Fair, APEGM Student-Professional Dinner and the Leaders of Innovation Wine & Cheese Event.
Promotions (Vanessa Stewart, Ali Campbell & Charlene Urfano)
The role of the Promotions Directorship is to keep all Engineering students informed of upcoming events, new services and important student issues. They are responsible for producing and hanging UMES posters around campus, as well as class announcements and other promotional activities. The Promotions directors will also be continually updating the large bulletin board located outside of the UMES offices and lounge (E2-292/294) with useful information.
The bulletin board is a great way to find out what's happening around the Faculty. Check it out whenever you have a chance.
Publications (David Enns, Lisa Pohl, Allison Fritz & Derrick Enns)
The Publications Directorship is responsible for the creation and distribution the Red Lion Magazine. The Red Lion is a free magazine made especially for University of Manitoba Engineering students featuring news, opinion, diversions and other material of interest to the Engineering student community.
Student contributions are always welcome in the Red Lion. If you have an article or other content you would like to submit, please email pubs@umes.mb.ca with your idea.
Socials (Noelle Vialoux, Ben van der Hoft & Vanessa Nickel)
The Socials Directorship is responsible for organizing the major Engineering social events during the year. The Socials directors make sure that these events are successful by planning and preparing all of the details in advance of the event. This preparation includes bringing in great music and live acts, creating decorations to set the mood of the event, and securing refreshments for everyone to enjoy.

Spirit (Colin Richards, Mike Lyseyko & Matt de Monye)
The Spirit Directorship organizes non-sporting, non-alcoholic events to promote student involvement. They focus on activities to encourage the spirit and morale of Engineering students. The main goal of Spirit is to maintain, revive and develop traditions within the Engineering student body.

Sports (Tom Vogel, Kyle Leblanc, Robbie Brar & Simon Cooke)
The Sports Directorship organizes Engineering sporting events throughout the school year. These events include a networking golf tournament, two dodgeball tournaments, and two spongee tournaments. Watch for posters with the dates and registration forms!
Sports will no longer be paying registration fees for intramurals. This is due to the fact that it has been changed to only five dollars per person. Sports will, however, help people get a team together if they require it.
All of these sporting events have been very successful in the past and spots fill up fast. So be sure to sign up your team early to guarantee a spot. If you have any questions regarding any of the sporting events, please contact sports.
Yearbook (Tyler Phillips & Dylan Briggs)
The Yearbook Directorship is responsible for producing the year's Engineering yearbook and organizing the graduation photo sessions that occur twice each year. Primarily focused on capturing the year in Engineering and around campus through pictures and text, the Yearbook directors will be at all UMES and major Faculty and campus events taking photos for their publication.
The Yearbook Directorship is always looking for photos. If you have photos from events, groups or classes that you think should be in the yearbook, please contact one of the Yearbook directors.
Engenda Chair (Leah Wong & Tyler Grant)
The Engenda Chair is main organizer and editor-in-chief of the Engenda, the Engineering students' handbook produced each year by UMES. Together with the Engenda Committee, the Engenda Chair works throughout the summer to produce a handbook that helps Engineering students stay organized and serves as a one-stop information resource for almost any question an Engineering student might have.
EngO Chair (Tabitha Wasylyk & Keith Edie)
The EngO Chair is responsible for organizing the first-year Engineering orientation days, known as EngO. EngO takes place the first two days of the school year, and introduces first year direct-entry Engineering students to the University and the Faculty of Engineering. Throughout the days' activities, first-year students learn about Engineering and its traditions while building friendships with fellow students that can last to the completion of their degrees and beyond.
Engineering Week Chair (Dell Carrit & Matt Fair)
The EngWeek Chair is in charge of organizing UMES's engineering week activities. EngWeek exists to celebrate Engineering and its traditions and to raise the profile of Engineering in the University community, while having some fun in the process. Numerous activities, including team-based competitions, will be taking place around the Faculty as part of EngWeek. All Engineering students are welcome to attend.

Pi-Throw Chair (Derek Neufeld & Dave Barchyn)
The Pi-Throw Chair is responsible for organizing the Great Engineering Pi-Throw charity event. As an event staged every year around the world, Pi-Throw raises money for local and national charities while having some fun with whipped cream. For a small fee, students and staff can purchase whipped cream pies that are then delivered to their friends, professors and colleagues all over campus.
The Pi-Throw is an event that relies on volunteers for its success. Please contact Brent if you would like to get involved as a Pi-Throw volunteer.
